Mostly thoughts from a time before I began to change myself.
But I'm changing that.

Puns and rambling

I hope someone has made a dubstep song and labeled the genre as Fresh Step.

I went to the store to buy fruit, but I went a little bananas.

Saturdaze.

I had a draft saved from a year and two months ago about an encounter I had. Met some girl in the forest who was 5-7 years older than me. Made me want to be more mature. But then I didn't do much about it. Perhaps now I will. I have to at some point. Too old for this. And I've learned too little.

I should have something that I can do to make this blog more interesting.

The only thing I've made with any regularity (besides poop, speaking of regularity) is wordplay.

I think making money is what I have to do for now, and I'll have to research how to do that quickly. Presumably some banking/financial thing or programming thing. Those are the only 2 money-making things I know of.

Navel-gazing ahead:
Plans are to meditate 1+ hour daily, workout with calisthenics (convict conditioning), and get qualifications to make money. and waste less time.
Writing isn't so much a waste, because I want to write stories because I have ideas, concepts, and they should be written. Reading isn't a waste if I learn to write better or get some concept.
Music, writing and drawing, in that order. I should get on it.
Maybe I don't need to draw, but I'd like to do comics and having someone else do it is eh.

a health and supplements type of post

So through browsing, I found out about this biologist dude (or chick. who knows. I'll say he's a guy for ease of my pronouns) who posts on Silk Road 2, giving people health advice.

He seems legit to me, in terms of the sheer amount of knowledge he has and shares.

There's a 24 page thread that I saved, and I pasted the segment about supplements into a google doc (and moved the summary from the bottom to the top).
This was his response to someone asking "what kind of supplements should everyone take?"
https://docs.google.com/document/d/138CpHGaBK2NyPr7pQaGijhkWIIXIvpnI08TTiBdDLLM/edit?usp=sharing

In terms of diet, he recommends a fruit and mushroom based diet, which is similar to what I'd read and wanted to follow in Joel Fuhrman, M.D.'s book Eat to Live.
I wussed out, but I'm on track for eating a healthier diet for now.

I got one of those green-type supplements
(the powder things that are basically just powdered vegetables and berries and stuff)
to use as a crutch until I know a little better what foods to buy, how to prepare them, etc.

I think I'm already feeling better, more clear-headed and such.
Now I just have to start exercising more!

Unrelated:
I'll try to make Saturday my internet-social day, or in any case, will be sure to get to this type of thing once a month at least.
I mostly forget about it/only remember at inopportune times.

But soon

Of course I always thought "a blog should be interesting" and like the idea of saying little, but always being profound over speaking constantly and drowning out those "best" thoughts.

I don't know if I ever saw this as something for me.
I wanted it to serve a purpose of entertainment, either through amusement or interesting things, rather than just be a diary.
So I put off posting, maybe a little daunted.
I think I'll go for weekly puns or jokes I encounter/come up with,
though I'll try for creating daily anyway.

If I look at my old posts on here even, some things seem ignorant, solipsistic (though that's kind of what blogs are for), etc.
I see myself differently than I did then, but I'd like to avoid looking back on current or future posts and thinking the same.

I suppose it's a matter of being better informed.
The writing style should always look worse in retrospect.

I'll try for long-winded being my only big flaw in writing from now.
At least I'll continue to write something like David Foster Wallace that way.
(SO MANY FOOTNOTES AND ASIDES IN HIS WORK)

tl;dr
Similar to most people, I often want to do more than I do.
On my part, I'm just lazy.
I could phrase it in a way that puts less blame on me, but I'd rather not.
I don't want to make promises I might not keep, because I've already broken many by putting them off.
So I'll refrain from saying what I'd like or like to do unless I'm sure I will not do/show it,
and I won't say anything until I've been doing it for awhile.

But soon.

Coffee Maker

I decided on an Aeropress because I asked I found out it was top rated on amazon and then checked /r/coffee.

Thursday, December 12, 2013

I don't know what to write here, often.

It means I'm not doing enough to improve.
Watching all of Firefly might be the most significant thing I've done this week.
I've come up with ideas, and this blog is for some of them, but more for resources and progress reports on my end, I guess.

Musing:
I'd like to make a software/programming company.
I will teach myself computer science, I guess. It seems essential for future, and I'd like to make some tech stuff.
Business/invention ideas are just application of thinking of how to do things better.
It's nice to live efficiently, I guess.
It'd be nice to have a book on living efficiently!
Maybe I can learn enough to write one sometime.
I suppose that's just extraction of various improvement techniques. It seems everyone has to make their own synthesis of ideas.
Is another book a viable idea/is there a good one on this topic yet?

I'm thinking once a month posts will be the minimum. I wanted to post more often for the sake of spurring myself toward progress, but I pushed the blog to the back of my head.
Maybe I have to make sure I don't think of it as work/motivation.

Today, I thought of vacuum coffee extraction, and figured it's an essential thing if one drinks a lot of coffee.
I also considered doing an amazon associates thing.
Signed up for it. Funny enough, my id on the site has crea8 in it.

I will definitely do something of substance and update before year's end, at least.
Music for sure.
Goal is to finish 1-3 songs by Christmas, I suppose.

I could make more frequent posts, since I write a lot to myself, but it's a matter of extracting what to post.
Maybe I'll just make the most "interesting" stuff on top, and the rest under colors and cuts
There's nothing after the cut, I just wanted to be artsy

Will begin to use this once more.

I might change the title though.
I'm going to use this to track the course of my amelioration of my life, essentially.
What I intend to do is to provide something of an example/motivation for others to improve myself as I do so.
A sort of "if I can do it, you can too!"
As well as providing the resources I use to do so.

To begin with, I am probably going to read and implement what I can of
http://theprometheanman.blogspot.com/
and
Lifehacker.

Goals:

  1. I will be learning DIY near-everything.
  2. I will be making myself as healthy as possible.
  3. I will be making music, (https://soundcloud.com/thewyrdremand trying to pursue other creative endeavors when possible (writing, and maybe later drawing, video-making).
  4. I will be trying to make maximum use of my resources (saving money/time/ ??? ).
  5. I will be trying to make money, to further my interests of
  • Establishing the amount necessary to live in a manner consistent with what I believe should be the minimum quality of life for everyone.
  • Using profit above this to establish means of improving the quality of the lives of others.
However, there is a fair possibility that I will stop actively trying to make more money/pursue this course in favor of fully devoting myself to more artistic pursuits.
My goal here is to do something that helps other people, but I hope that I will be able to make them feel emotions through art more than I desire the monetary side of things.
I have no idea which would take priority in the long run... I am thinking delegation/partnership would help/be available by the time at which I cannot focus on both or must temporarily focus on one.

I haven't yet decided on daily posts or weekly posts.

I have considered the idea of moving to Kansas City so as to avail myself of google fiber, so that I could take and upload videos of my entire day, minus sleep, or anything lewd, I suppose.
Dunno if I will do that, but I will certainly consider it a lot.

[tl;dr If current things bore you, try making something that interests you.]

In HS Philosophy our teacher had posed a question: is it better to be a fool satisfied or Socrates dissatisfied?

[I looked this up online just now and apparently Mill had said that "it is better to be a human being dissatisfied than a pig satisfied; better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool satisfied".]

At the time, I analysed it, I figured Socrates is better off, because I valued my intellect.
After some time, [of I suppose an amount of getting over the most oppressive of the realities of the world]
I came to think that the fool had it best, that ignorance is bliss.

I might assert that ignorance is indeed bliss. But I do not think that it is the best path. After some time I came to think about the nature of dissatisfaction. I came to reason that there should be things that I can change, or things I can make.

so I kinda started this with the hopes of making enough money to not have to work/to share awesome things.
The only problem is that once I lost interest in trying to get more people to read it,
I noticed that I wanted this to be much greater than it is, and so I kind of wanted to stop with it until either I could make it better or I'd accept it as just a medium for my sorta thoughts.

short pun that's it

[a dog that lives here. I pushed him a bit with my foot a bit so he'd leave the kitchen before putting on my shoes to let the other dog in. (he doesn't run but she does so she needs to be leashed and she got stuck on something)
He was back in the kitchen, so]

I kicked off my shoe lightly to land on him and shooed him away again.

I finished watching Code Geass. The ending made me cry. Though it had its rough moments, (the Euphie bit was somewhat contrived) the ending was perfect.
On another note, I'll describe my orientation in a bit more detail later.

A Good Lie

When I was in grammar school... I don't remember what grade I was in, from 6-8th.
I got in trouble for changing the mouse trail on 2 computers.

As a punishment, I had to type an apology on the computer at home.
(there might have been more, I don't remember)
I forgot to do it, and when I was called down to the main office to hand it in, I hurriedly wrote one on paper.

They asked me why it wasn't typed, and I said that I had computer access taken away from me at home as a punishment for what I did.

I just realised most of the world likes U2. (the band) for example: When someone says, "I love you", often there is a reply of, "I love U2".

One of the rank and file.
was given, and drank a phial.
it was quite rank, and vile.

(tried briefly to make it a haiku but no dice)

Thursday, June 23, 2011

I'm thinking that maybe I'll use this more often for the random thoughts I have during the day.
Since I write them down, maybe I can just post the ones I don't think I'll use in a story.

Memory, and the workings of brains (of geniuses, of myself, of friends of mine, a bit of men and women)

So Cluney linked me to this article about a "normal" guy and his perspective on obtaining an excellent memory.

Also, here is a link regarding how the brains of gay people of one gender work similarly to heterosexuals of the opposite gender.

I think many people who are geniuses in memory do this sort of thing without being conscious of it. I think that I probably memorised things differently than most people. I don’t know if I still do/if I have since I smoked for the first time. To a large extent, geniuses’ brains simply work in a different manner, as well as most are overactive, re-remembering things to the point of mass exhaustion and redundancy, and relating them to all sorts of barely related things. This is why they grasp things quickly; their mind works furiously to connect seemingly unconnected anythings. Events, ideas, etc.
